Applying to vacancies

Applying to GCAS vacancies is straightforward. If you mentioned a vacancy in your application to the Talent Pool, we’ve sent you a copy or link to the advert in your welcome email. 

To apply:

  1. Choose a vacancy you are interested in
  2. Review all the information in the advert and make a note of the Reference Number and Job Title 
  3. Tailor your CV and covering letter to the role and employer, not to GCAS 
  4. Apply with the tailored CV and covering letter (submitted as one document) to (add the Reference Number and / or Job Title to your email Subject line)

You may be asked to complete a different application process for some vacancies, for example, if the employer uses a vacancy portal. This will be made clear in the vacancy details. You can assume all other vacancies require a CV and covering letter to the GCAS inbox.  

As a member of our Talent Pool, support is available to help you to apply. For support to write your CV and covering letter we have provided advice and information in the Just Graduated? What Next? online course and our Self-marketing in CVs and covering letters session is run frequently to help you put your best foot forward. 

If you prefer, you can also access careers support from your university Careers Service. Most universities in Scotland offer their graduates support for at least 2 years after graduation.
